Lineart WIP

I’m going to make an attempt to actually do a good job looking over the lineart so I notice things and that I’ll like it in the end, unlike my last cg. I need to like REALLY do that from now on. Usually, I just jump right into coloring without really looking for mistakes, then I end up disliking the result. orz

I didn’t really use references for PD, but I noticed that crows have four toes (three in front, one in back). I always thought parrots (macaws anyway) had three toes since that’s what always comes to mind (actually, that does seem odd now lol). So I looked at some pictures of macaws and they do have four toes (two in front, two in back); it’s just hard to see both of the back toes. PD’s like a parrot-crow hybrid in the daytime and a crow at night, so like… I don’t know what his feet would be. lol I guess I have them as two in the front and two in the back. Well, I guess pretty much his whole body changes, so his feet can too. lolol

Space management

I’m… I’m pretty bad at that. ):

I was planning on drawing two characters, but she took up way too much room. lol I need to actually think about sizes and placement when I actually draw something, haha. And I’ve kinda been trying to practice contrapossto. I always forget how to spell that though. :| I feel like I haven’t drawn a girl in forever. ;;

But, yay, I’m finally drawing them. orz

And today I got an e-mail with the subject “Hurry! Michael’s is hiring!” Inside though, it said “a Michael’s near you may be hiring.” So I don’t know if they’re actually hiring, but I guess I’ll see tomorrow when I turn in an application. That would be pretty sweet working there, discount on sketchbooks! *need on soon*

Ughhhhh

lol Shut up, Tarnim. :U
Why do I always get to this point and stop liking the picture? D: I need to like start having separate layers for the outline of each character. That way when I need to move something around, it’s A LOT easier. fffffffff

Anywayyyy, now to something that I’m actually liking.

Just a WIP of a sketch. Still need to draw the other guy and the background that I’ll hopefully have the patience for. :U
‘Kay, story time now. So, I really like parrots. Like, they are just the coolest things ever, so I wanted her pet bird to be a parrot. Then I thought. They’re grave robbers (yes, I have no morals!), so wouldn’t a brightly colored parrot be kinda of… a little too noticeable? Then I remembered that crows are said to be the harbringers of death, and that symbolism would work great with the whole grave robbing thing. Upon further research on Wikipedia, I came across some Chinese legend (and oh how I love Chinese stuff!) of the god archer Houyi that had to shoot down the 10 crows that made up the sun. And looking even further, I found this mythology of this three-legged, golden crow that represents the sun in a few cultures (Chinese included!). So, to have it both ways, he’ll be a golden parrot with some crow features that turns into a black crow when they’re, uh, robbing graves (or something to that effect). :| Plus, walking around town with a crow might be a little conspicuous!
And here I tried to stay away from being influenced by Chinese stuff since that’s like the only country that influences stuff I do. :U
